Wanderings

July Wanderings

We wandered all over this summer: the Maine coast, Vermont, the Berkshires in Massachusetts, and Delaware Water Gap. Most of our days were spent canoeing, as the heat made being on the water delightful. Our afternoons included many siestas on the beach, in hammocks, or near waterfalls while reading or editing. Here are some highlights, including Windjammer Days in Boothbay Harbor.

It's officially bug season here in Maine, which means most of our adventuring involves going to the coast, where the breeze keeps off the bugs. For Memorial Day weekend, we spent a delightful few hours having a picnic lunch and reading by the ocean, poking in tide pools at the Rachel Carson preserve, canoeing, seeing the alewives running at the fish ladder in Damariscotta, and reading beside the ocean at Fort Edgecomb. It was marvelous finally seeing the sun after nine straight weekends of rain (next weekend's forecast to be rainy as well).
